"Baba, sit down please, i said, tugging at his sleeve i think he really means to shoot you. Baba slapped my hand away. Haven't i taught you anything? He snapped." (Hosseini 116) This is an example of father and sons. Baba's sons are worried that his father is going to be shot he still is scared that hes an emarrassment but still insists that his father sits down and listens. Amir would always try to save his father even in the worse ways possible he just wanted to make sure his father was safe.

"I finally had what I'd wanted all those years. Except now that I had it, I felt as empty as this unkempt pool I was dangling my legs into" (Hosseini 85)
This is a very clear example of the guilt motif because Even though Amir had achieved the recognition from his father he wanted, the guilt from losing his only friend outweighed the triumph he should have been feeling.
